The project entails the creation of both printed and electronic editions of the dictionary. The students, professors and the administration of Free University were working on creating the dictionary.<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">The lack of financial terms and their explanations in Georgian language is a significant barrier for increasing financial literacy in Georgia. The dictionary will help Georgian students and users to understand the terms better in Georgian. The project entails the creation of both printed and electronic editions of the dictionary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The publication contains over 300 financial terms, selected for the first Georgian dictionary of financial terms by members of the Free University\u2019s working group.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The team working on identifying Georgian-language equivalent terminology, elaborating definitions and finetuning the publication, consisted of Free University professors, management and the Free and Agricultural Universities\u2019 Press. A selected group of Free University students assisted the team in this process.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Financial terminology is often used without translation. Foreign words are transplanted directly and assimilated into the language, which, on the one hand, may be beneficial for the common understanding of a given term, however, on the other hand, is often an arbitrary and unnecessary attempt to replace possible Georgian terms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Further, it is challenging to first identify Georgian equivalent terms, then to elaborate telling definitions, and then to anchor them into daily usage. We would like to sincerely thank our partners and everyone who contributed to the creation of this dictionary, and express the hope that our joint and professional effort will be successful. By working with fintechs, as well as with traditional financial service providers, we aim to expand digital financial services and complement informal financial practices, leveraging social networks and engaging clients in real time, while using data to tailor products and to extend the access to and use of financial services.<br \/>There is an opportunity to address important financial needs through existing digital services.
